What are strategy and tower defense games?

Strategy games reward planning more than reflexes. In tower defense you place and upgrade towers along a path so that waves of enemies never reach your base. Real-time strategy (RTS) games have you gather resources, build units and push across a battlefield, while war and conquest games are about taking territory one region at a time.

What makes a good one?

A good strategy game gives you real choices: different towers or units that are each strong against something, and enough information to see why a plan failed. Waves that grow steadily, upgrade trees with trade-offs and a speed-up button for slow rounds all make a big difference.

How to choose: beginners and experienced players

If you are new, start with a classic tower defense game - the path is fixed, so you can focus on where to put towers - and play the first levels on the easiest setting.
